Praise for Carrying the Bones

A love song to grief that spans from the California mountains to the Appalachians. Elizabeth weaves storytelling, poetry, and research together in a fine tapestry of remembrance.

Eileen Elizabeth is an extraordinary writer—one whose sentences carry both weight and wonder. In Carrying the Bones, she blends essay and poetry with remarkable control, braiding personal loss with a searching exploration of how humans mourn across time and culture.
